For his Paris showroom New York-based Thakoon took a light-filled apartment looking out onto the historic Place des Vosges square, which suited the breezy beauty of his spring-summer collection perfectly; the light silk dresses hung near the window were literally illuminated with the afternoon sun flooding through the open windows.
Thakoon also took this opportunity to present his new shoes and bags, and collection for Tasaki, a Japanese fine jewellery house of which he is also Creative Director. In his jewellery pieces, he gives us tough-luxe; garnets fashioned into rose thorn shapes, diamonds cut into pointed pyramids, with clasps based on antique locks, heavy chains and overstitched leather. Tasaki was originally a pearl house, and the designer uses these in unusual ways; for example, two greeny-blue toned pearls topped with black onyx studs form a two finger ring which is both punk and pretty.
