Riccardo Tisci to replace Galliano.

Refinery29.com :

BREAKING: Twitter is abuzz right now with confirmations left and right about Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci's placement at Dior. Now, for the next guessing game... who's replacing Tisci? (@derekblasberg)

Fashionetc.com :

Will Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci succeed John Galliano at Dior?

A tweet from Harper's Bazaar editor-at-large Derek Blasberg has set the fashion world ablaze with speculation that Tisci accepted the highly coveted job at the French fashion house.

"I was just told backstage at the @KatyPerry concert (of all places!) that Riccardo Tisci is CONFIRMED at Dior," Blasberg tweeted late on March 8.

Though there's been no official comment on the rumor, Tisci—a Central Saint Martins grad who has been the creative director of Givenchy since 2005—is currently the odds-on favorite (5/4) to take over for the ousted Galliano, according to British bookies Paddy Power.

While Alber Elbaz's and Haider Ackermann's names have also been tossed in the hat, insiders say that Tisci's existing niche within the LVMH family could give him a leg up on the competition. And with Dior being LVMH's prestigious label, a stint there could be enough to tempt the Italian designer.

Still, we don't expect Dior to officially announce a hire until Galliano's termination has been finalized. And given Tisci's recent assertion that "I'm happy at Givenchy" to Style.com, we'll be taking this news with a grain of salt.

The fashiontweestas are echoing a message tweeted by fashion writer and Harper's Bazaar editor-at-large Derek Blasberg, who said that Riccardo Tisci will be taking over for John Galliano at Christian Dior.

Riccardo Tisci was tipped as a frontrunner for the Dior job, which was not advertised on Monster.com or craigslist. Derek Blasberg said he was told about the decision while backstage at a Katy Perry concert, but did not elaborate on who told him, or when an official announcement can be expected.

Despite the fact that we’re really not sure if John Galliano has been legally released from his contract at Dior, a bunch of fashion people are swearing on their grandma’s graves that Riccardo Tisci is confirmed as his successor at the storied French fashion house. (Actually, other than Derek Blasberg, they’re just casually hinting, but same difference.)

Not surprising, to the say the least. We imagine that those of us in New York will wake up tomorrow morning with an interesting press release or two in our inboxes. For those of you in Paris, keep those tips coming.
